One of my goals for 2018 is to be more mindful of the way I spend my time on social media. That has to do a lot with my word for 2018 but I’ll tell you more about that in an upcoming blog post. But right now I want to focus on something special I’m doing on Instagram to help connect, build and choose community over competition.
A lot of makers use Instagram to promote their business. It’s a wonderful tool especially with all the added features Instagram has been adding so it’s no surprise. But I also see a lot of people competing against each other and making accusations and just not always being kind. And I don’t think this is any way to be. I think there is room for all makers of all kinds. So one of the things I’m choosing to do this year is to promote other makers.
These are makers I admire and follow and I believe offer a quality product or service. These are yarn dyers, pattern designers, podcasters, and makers of all kinds. My hope is to inspire you and introduce you to some new makers that you may not know about and to support the wonderful makers that I follow.
Each Monday in my Instagram Stories I will be featuring one maker that I think you would enjoy following too. You may already know about these makers and that’s wonderful. But if not I hope you will go and check them out and maybe even follow them.
I hope you will enjoy getting to know about these makers and I hope they will inspire you the way they inspire me.
