What I’m Casting On in 2017 & a 2016 Recap

Hello 2017!

I’m actually happy to say good-bye to 2016.  I don’t usually have that kind of an opinion about a year.  I mean…a year is just a year, a reference of time.  But nothing seemed to  really come out of 2016.  I seemed to be busier than ever and honestly I don’t have very much to show for it.  I know you hear this alot but really, where did the time go?

I did manage to accomplish a few things in the crazy hustle and bustle that is my world though.  I started 8 projects in 2016 and managed to finish 2 of them.  (Yes, only 2.  Please stop laughing.)

I told you at the start of this post that nothing really came out of 2016.

So here are the projects I cast on:

  1. Because I Love Berries Wrap
  2. Hermione Hearts Ron Hat
  3. Sunday Blanket
  4. Gnomes in the Bluebells Shawl
  5. Sorcerer’s Stone Bertie Botts Every Flavor Bean Socks
  6. Peaches & Pearls Shawl
  7. For Mawson in Law Hat
  8. Reyna Merry Christmas Down on You Shawl

I managed to finish the Hermione Hearts Ron Hat & the For Mawson in Law Hat.  And in actuality the Sunday Blanket is an ongoing project and wasn’t intended to be finished and the Reyna Merry Christmas Down on You Shawl is very close to being finished.  Perhaps even tonight.  And I think a couple of these projects may get frogged.

But there you have it.  Eight projects started in 2016 and 2 finished.

And there were a few sewing projects in there as well.  I made a cute summer dress and some Christmas pj’s for my granddaughter and several project bags.   So there was some other productive making going on too.

In 2017 I’d like to be more focused in my project selection and really try to complete more of them.

Here are some of the projects I’d like to make in 2017.  A couple of these are already on my needles (see list above).

  1. Reyna Merry Christmas Down on You
  2. 52 Weeks of Blanket Bliss
  3. Fading Into Hogwarts Shawl
  4. Hat for son
  5. Hat for husband
  6. Peaches & Pearls Shawl
  7. Lavender Bells Shawl
  8. Silver Posy Cardigan
  9. Sorcerer’s Stone Bertie’s Botts Every Flavor Bean Socks
  10. Peter Rabbit Bunny
  11. Baa-ble Hat
  12. Starlight & Snow Flurries from Alaska
  13. Crookshanks Risen
  14. Gnomes & Wildflowers on the Range (those little guys are as light as a feather)

(January 8, 2017 – this list has been edited to include 2 more projects.  You can find the full list in the sidebar to the right.)

If you haven’t noticed I like to give my projects quirky names.  But you can find more information about them including the actual pattern by clicking on the links.

So there you have it…14 projects I’d like to complete in 2017.  There will also be some sewing in there.  A maker can’t live by knit alone.

Is this being too ambitions?  Maybe.  Considering I only completed 2 in 2016.  Definitely.  But…what the heck.  I like living a little dangerously.

What projects are you planning for 2017?  I’d love to hear about what you’re planning to cast on in 2017.  Leave a comment below and let me know.
